How to Beat Stress
In the mid-1930s when rat studies began to connect environmental pressures to
health problems people didn’t use the term “stressed out.” Instead, they would say
they were “hungry” or “overworked”—all problems with specific solutions—a series
of surmountable hurdles that you can take on individually. Scholars and researchers
have found that is one of the most meaningful and best ways to think about stress
now. In this presentation, Dr. Chlup will share the science-driven solutions to life’s
biggest stressors. While you may not be able to eliminate all the stress from life, you
can learn how to cope. In this session, participants will learn scientifically based,
simple strategies for how to beat stress and feel calmer every day. So when chaos

Speaker Bio
Dr. Dominique Chlup works with highly accomplished academics,
creatives, and executives who decide it’s time to turn their unmet dream into
real life. She has served clients at more than 32 universities and colleges and
worked with executives at Fortune 100 companies including ExxonMobil, Apple, and
Morgan Stanley.
Dominique holds a BA in English and a BA in History from Columbia University, MFA
in Fiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and two degrees from Harvard –
both a Masters in Education and a Doctorate of Education. She’s a published author
on over 210 publications and presentations, recipient of 28 distinguished awards,
and $6.7 million in grant funding.
For twelve years, Dominique worked as a tenured University professor at Texas
A&M University, where she ran the nation's largest Literacy Resource Center for
Adult Literacy Learners and went on to co-direct the Promoting Outstanding
Writing for Excellence in Research (POWER) program. That’s when Dominique
noticed that she and her team weren’t actually teaching, educating, advising, or
mentoring people – they were coaching.
Eventually, it occurred to Dominique that she didn’t want to continue life as a
professor. She ended up walking away from her tenured academic position to
become a coach.
She now helps other high achieving professionals uncover and map the action steps
to finally make what they’ve dreamed about actually happen. She supports her
clients as they write the books they’ve always wanted to write, start new chapters in
their careers, move to countries that call them, and live the lives they’ve always
wanted.
A Professional Certified Coach credentialed by the International Coach Federation,
an organization that sets the gold standard for coaching, Dominique gives talks and
leads workshops at universities, companies, retreats, and conferences around the
world, blending the latest in motivation psychology with real life strategies and
stories about crafting a career and life that’s custom built, wildly inspired, and
deeply satisfying. Find out more about her work at dominiquechlup.com.
